What is the Chatham House Rule – and why does it matter?

It's a simple idea: you can take away everything you hear at Future Builders and share it freely, but you can't reveal who said it or which organisation they're from.

No attributions. No screenshots of slides with someone's name on them. No "my colleague told me that [person] said..."

Why do we use it?

Because better conversations happen when people feel safe to speak honestly. The Chatham House Rule creates a space where you can share a real opinion, admit you don't know something, or talk about a challenge you're dealing with — without worrying about it ending up on LinkedIn with your name attached.

We want Future Builders to be a place where people say the thing they're actually thinking. That only works if everyone feels comfortable doing it.

What does it look like in practice?

Share what you learned. Talk about the ideas. Just don't attach a name or a company to them.
